Personality answers:
EMOTIONAL ABUSE FROM PARENT IS A BIG PART OF HIS CHARACTER- BE WARNED

1.Explain which event in canon is most pivotal to your character's development, and who they are today.
As a child of 8, his mother gave him 30 minutes of "independent study", where he could study a subject of his choosing. This was the closest he had to "free time". On day, a pair of kids from the neighborhood invited him outside to play. After some reluctance he went with them- and it became a daily thing. Riddle would go out play soccer, see cute animals, and one day he even got to have a strawberry tart at one of the kid's family's bakery (he was never allowed sugar because according to his mother sugar was "basically poison"). Of course, one day he failed to come back on time, and the whole thing came to a very explosive end. Riddle's mother found him at the bakery and went on a tirade against the parents, to put in perspective of how bad it was, the boy who invited Riddle over still has such a fear of Riddle's mother that he'll go into a full blown panic if he thinks she's around. After that incident Riddle's mother pulled back on what little freedom he was allowed, and Riddle got it into his head that this was because he broke the rules.

All the feelings he was experiencing from losing his friends, no longer being able to go outside and play, no longer being able to enjoy sweets, all a consequence of rule breaking. So if one wanted to not get hurt, then they had to follow all the rules. This eventually leads to his overblot (see question 4) because in a very misguided but genuine attempt to be a good housewarden to his fellow students, he instead became a tyrant akin to his mother.

2.What would your character say is their best trait? What is truly their best trait?

Riddle would likely say that his best traits are related to his studiousness and adherence to rules. His grades are perfect, and he follows every rule to a 'T'. What his actual best trait is that in spite of how his life has been, and the abuse he's suffered, he does genuinely care about others and wants to help. He works hard to tutor those in his dorm, and struggles to break the cycle of abuse while also making sure everyone in his dorm succeeds. He's not perfect, but he's still held onto his compassion.

3. What would it take to truly upset your character, enough that they would act upon their feelings? Are they the sort to forgive?

It actually takes very little to upset Riddle, he's got a notorious hair trigger temper. That is something that's kind of at the heart of his character. He's trying to learn to manage it, he's gotten FAR better at letting small things go... that said he's powerless in the face of a good deliberate baiting. Fortunately this is usually more comedic relief than his prior tyrant tantrums, but he will flip someone on their head, collar them with his signature spell, and/or set the whole room on fire. Luckily, as quick as he is to anger, he doesn't hold onto any serious grudges- he may have a bad taste when it comes to dealing with someone, but he'd rather just avoid them than start more fights.

4. What would be your character's lowest, darkest moment they've lived through? How did they respond to their troubles and face their demons?

It would, hands down, be his overblot. Quick summary of overblotting before the powers section for the sake of context: Magic in Twisted Wonderland comes with a toxic byproduct. They use magestones to filter it, but the magestones can get filled up. Negative emotions also affect blot generation and accumulation, a mage experiencing severe mental distress will generate more blot and be slower to naturally dispel it (given question one I'm sure you can already see where this is going).

Well, at the height of Riddle's tyrant crusade, his whole dorm started rebelling against him. Throwing food at him, calling him out, even the now grown childhood friend (who had been enabling him out of guilt) finally stepped up in hopes of getting through to him, but it all had the opposite effect. After all, if his way of thinking was wrong, if the rules weren't the most important thing... then what had everything all been for? What had he been suffering and lonely all these years for? It sent him over the edge, allowing the blot to take hold- essentially he lost control of himself and was acting entirely dictated by his negative emotions and tried to kill or imprison anyone around him. He doesn't remember what happened while he overblotted, but it's considered something very shameful, and he was nearly expelled for it, which you can imagine was probably horrifying for him, luckily this is the one time his mother used her powers for good, and while we're unsure HOW exactly she prevented it, I'm sure it has something to do with her penchant for horrifying long angry tirades. Even so, the stigma from his overblot followed him for some time among the other students- that said, he became better for it. Learning to overlook some small insignificant rules.

Inventory:
Staff/magestone-serves to filter blot when casting spells
Dorm uniform- enchanted to help ward off magic + moderate temperature
pen and ink set- mundane, he's just a nerd and these are Important to Have
Umbrella- it's against the rules to be caught in the rain without one!

Powers/Abilities:
*TWST Magic in general is a mix between "if you've seen it in a Disney movie, it can be done" and "We threw in a new spell for the sake of convenience", so there's a lot of inconsistencies.
Off With Your Head: Riddle's signature spell. it puts a magical collar on an individual that prevents them from using magic. He can have multiple collars on people at a time, and seems to be able to maintain them over distances. It's not infallible though, there's obviously a power threshold where if someone is too powerful then they can break or prevent the spell from affecting them. Similarly, if someone has powers that can disintegrate the collar, or alter how it works then the spell with fail. It also requires to be on someone's neck to work. If they individual has no neck or can otherwise go invisible then they can essentially dodge the spell (possibly if the neck is "too big" then it may also dodge it but that is not confirmed). This spell will ONLY be used with player permission.

Generic elemental magic: ice, water, wind, flora, electricity, void, and fire are all elements that can be thrown around at will. Given no one is sent to the infirmary with 3rd degree burns due to fireball, I would put offensive output roughly on par with a fist fight on average- Riddle's skills with fire magic going a bit above an beyond due to his obscene training and natural affinity for being a hothead fire magic.

Broom Flying: what it says on the tin. Riddle is a good flyer, but it's like riding a bike- one gets tired after going on for too long.

Repairing magic: can repair small mundane object like mirrors, pencils, tears in clothes, and so forth. Now, putting things together doesn't necessarily mean making it work- particularly with technology. If something has become wet or melted and ceased working, at most it can be made to appear like normal, but the damage to the parts itself will remain. However, if it was cut in half it would be able to be put back together and turn on (however it may be factory reset int he process).

enchantment: can enchant objects to function on their own for simple tasks such as dishes washing themselves, or getting brooms to carry buckets of water from one place to another (These are the only two examples seen in canon thus far).

Practical magic: Spells that streamline daily tasks, such as putting away things like books room or changing clothes. Riddle mentions this is a particular type of magic he excels in as it allows him more time for studying.

Barrier: Can create a barrier to absorb attacks, however, magic needs to be channeled into it to ward off attacks. Meaning the more hits the barrier takes, and the harder the hits, the more blot the mage will generate. So in theory, taking a powerful hit without dropping the barrier could instantly fill up one's magestone with blot.

Healing: what is says on the tin, most student know how to heal to a degree. Given both Riddle's parents are medical mages and he spent his childhood reading medical textbooks, he's fairly well-versed in this! However he lacks a license, and practicing without a license is against the rules, so outside of scraped knees it's unlikely he'll use this unless a person is literally about to die. He will then probably try to turn himself in because he is now a filthy rule breaker.

Blot/overblotting: the toxic byproduct that comes with casting magic. Every spell accumulates some of this substance, the more exertion the spell requires, the more it generates. Magestones are able to filter this and absorb blot in place of the caster for a time, but even these magestones can become “full” which will cause the caster to take the full brunt of their blot. Extreme emotional distress can exacerbate blot generation, and the more blot that accumulates in the mage specifically makes the negative mental state even worse. using too much magic while emotionally distraught can cause an overblot, where a mage loses control to their facilities, and they generate a parasitic entity known as a "phantom" that feeds on their magic and negative emotions. The Phantom seeks to perpetuate the worst emotions of the host for feeding, aiming to drain them to retain its physical form after the death of the host. To stop an overblot the hose needs to either be knocked out (can't have feelings if you're unconscious) Or the phantom and host need to be separated far enough that the phantom cannot feed off the host.

Introspection Sample:

It was a rather unfortunate conundrum he'd found himself in. He'd acquired a roommate, and made a comprehensive list of tasks that would be split between them. One such task being cooking duty. While he would rather not have to handle it himself, due to lack of experience but upon hearing of his roommate's repertoire of food... well, it was wildly unhealthy! How would he possibly stand it!?

So that lead him where he is today, standing over a recipe book, and following each instruction to painstaking detail! He's had to ask his roommate several very important questions due to the infuriating vagueness of these books, only to find he was no help either! Surely he cannot be the only person who has thunk to question whether or not one should compensate for the amount of flour that sticks to the measuring spoon, right? That's simply common sense! Yet his roommate says it will come off when he measures something liquid- but that would be mixing the flour before the instructions explicitly say so?! Really, no help at all, that one.

He thought he was making rather good headway on the project, when he head a knock on the door. He huffed to himself at having to deal with the interruption, but upon answering it he was handed... two bags of take out. Apparently his roommate had grown impatient after the second hour? And didn't even inform him?

Oh it was very nearly off with his head- until he noticed one of the bags was actually labelled for him too. Well... he supposed they could save his meal for the following day then.

Player Goals: On the one hand I want there to be some positive experience, since in game will be the first time he's COMPLETELY free of his mother, and he's also taken away from an academic setting. Him finding a new "normal" will be good for him! On the OTHER hand I'm going to torture him horribly with his natural soul, because what could POSSIBLY be more traumatic than having to die and potentially be unable to reverse it?
